Yash's Toxic: Rs 500 Cr Gamble Hits Theaters Tomorrow

Geetu Mohandas is set to release her ambitious pan-Indian action drama, 'Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups,' tomorrow. The film, starring Yash and featuring an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth, is reportedly mounted on a staggering Rs 500 crore budget.

Mohandas, who began her career as a child artist and later achieved accolades as a lead actress in Malayalam cinema, transitioned to directing with her production house Unplugged in 2009. Her directorial debut, the short film 'Kelkkunnundo,' garnered international recognition and a National Film Award. Her feature film debut, 'Liar's Dice,' also received critical acclaim, including National Film Awards and an Oscar entry.

The release of 'Toxic' has been eventful, with the film being postponed three times. Initial rumors cited reshoots, but the production team denied this. Subsequent delays were attributed to avoiding competition with other releases and, more recently, to Middle East tensions affecting global distribution. Despite these hurdles, the film is finally arriving in theaters tomorrow, with music and background score by Ravi Basrur and slated for release in six languages.

This venture represents Geetu Mohandas's most significant box office gamble, aiming for mainstream appeal with a high-profile cast and substantial budget. Advance ticket sales for 'Toxic' have been promising, with reports indicating over 41.36 crore earned and more than 9 lakh tickets sold.
