In a high-profile divorce case, actress Tori Spelling and her husband of 18 years, Dean McDermott, have been embroiled in a bitter legal battle. According to court documents, Spelling filed for divorce in March 2024, listing the date of separation as June 17, 2023. In her filing, Spelling requested spousal support and for McDermott to cover her legal bills.
However, McDermott has disputed the separation date, claiming it was actually July 7, 2023, weeks after Spelling's stated timeline. He has also opposed Spelling's request for sole custody of their children, instead asking for joint custody.
The divorce proceedings have been further complicated by the couple's financial troubles. In September 2025, McDermott revealed in court filings that his "acting and producing work has decreased drastically" in the past couple of years, and he has transitioned into an alcohol and drug counselor. Meanwhile, Spelling is believed to earn between $3,000 to $75,000 per month, depending on her projects.
Adding to the drama, both Spelling and McDermott have moved on to new relationships since their split. Spelling is now dating a CEO named Ryan Cramer, while McDermott has been in a relationship with Lily Calo since October 2023.
The former couple's financial woes extend beyond their divorce, as they are also facing a massive judgment over an unpaid $400,000 loan from 2017. City National Bank has filed court documents stating that Spelling and McDermott have not made payments on the judgment, which has grown to $395,729.82 with interest.
