Fishel: 'Girl Meets World' Failed by Chasing 'Boy Meets World'

Actress Danielle Fishel recently shared her frustrations regarding the "Girl Meets World" sequel, revealing it felt overly burdened by nostalgia for the original "Boy Meets World." Fishel, who starred as Topanga Lawrence, explained that creator Michael Jacobs initially pitched the show as a new entity, not a direct reboot.

However, Fishel stated that production quickly shifted, with writers frequently attempting to incorporate "Boy Meets World" elements. Co-star Rider Strong, who reprised his role as Shawn Hunter, echoed this sentiment, recalling being asked to recreate moments he barely remembered filming.

Fishel also pointed to the network shift from ABC to Disney Channel as a detriment. She argued that airing the sequel from 2014 to 2017 on Disney Channel targeted a younger audience, making it difficult to reach the adults who had grown up with the original series, a move she felt catered to the wrong demographic.
