- Collette realized it was horror when seeing an editing scene

According to a recent report, acclaimed actress Toni Collette was unaware that the 2019 film 'The Sixth Sense' was a horror movie when she first started working on it. Collette, who played the role of Lynn Sear, the mother of the supernaturally gifted Cole (Haley Joel Osment), in the M. Night Shyamalan film, said she initially thought the movie was a "beautiful, spiritual story."
It wasn't until Collette passed by the editing bay on set that she realized 'The Sixth Sense' was a horror film. She witnessed a scene being cut where Cole's character encounters the ghost of a dead girl named Kyra, played by Missha Barton, and the actress said she thought, "Oh, holy s---, I think this is a horror movie."
Shyamalan previously explained that the scene was meant to convey the idea that Cole's life had become a "horror movie." Collette, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role, has since said that the horror films she has starred in are "beautiful dramas" that take the story a step further.
The actress, who is currently starring in the new Netflix horror-thriller series 'Wayward,' which premiered on September 25th, has acknowledged that while she isn't a big fan of the horror genre, the scary movies she has done have an element that "sensationalizes" them.
