Rocker Tom Morello has unveiled a new song titled 'Date Night,' dedicated to three young women who courageously lured Nazis to their demise during World War II. This track is part of an upcoming album, 'Everyone Gets Everything They Want,' scheduled for release on September 25. The song, featuring guest guitar work from Morello's teenage son, Roman, is performed from the perspective of sisters Truus and Freddie Oversteegen and their associate Hannie Schaft.
These remarkable women were actively involved in the Dutch resistance, undertaking perilous missions such as assassinating Nazi officers, sabotaging railways, and aiding Jewish children's escape from capture. Morello explicitly stated his music is for anti-fascists and anti-Nazis, emphasizing 'Date Night' as a call to choose a side in the fight against oppression.
'Everyone Gets Everything They Want' will be Morello's first solo rock album, though he has previously released music as The Nightwatchman. The album will also feature collaborations with Serj Tankian and Kneecap, and five tracks are co-written with Roman Morello.
