Tom Holland: The Last True Movie Star?

Tom Holland is being hailed by director Joe Russo as potentially the last true movie star in the vein of old Hollywood. Russo's admiration stems from Holland's distinctive approach to acting, which he describes as having an "old school" jovial energy akin to Gene Kelly, setting him apart from peers. This youthful yet mature charisma is seen as electric and natural, making him a sought-after talent for filmmakers.

Holland's recent box office successes with "The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" underscore his current popularity. While his traditional charm resonates, the definition of a "movie star" has evolved. Russo suggests Holland represents a classic archetype, a studio darling who can play the relatable everyman, contrasting with modern stars who may embrace more intense acting methods or different personas, like Zendaya.

Both "The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" are currently available in select theaters for a limited time. Fans can also stream Holland's previous appearances as Spider-Man and in other Marvel Cinematic Universe films on Disney+.
