Tom Hanks is taking on the iconic role of President Abraham Lincoln in the upcoming "Lincoln in the Bardo." This distinctive film will utilize a hybrid approach, blending live-action with stop-motion animation. The movie is set to explore one of the most intimate periods of Lincoln's life.
The narrative centers on the 16th U.S. President's relationship with his son who recently passed away at the age of 11. The film aims to delve into profound themes such as love, empathy, and the human capacity to cope with immense grief. It will feature a diverse ensemble of characters, encompassing both the living and the deceased, historical figures and invented ones. Hanks will also produce the film through his Playtone label. The project is based on George Saunders' acclaimed novel of the same name, which won the Booker Prize. Duke Johnson is directing and producing for Starburns Industries, adapting Saunders' novel for the screen. Production is scheduled to occur in London.
