The vibrant four-day Theppotsavam, celebrated at the Sri Padmavati Ammavari temple in Tiruchanur, has drawn to a close. This significant festival honors Goddess Padmavati, whose divine origins are mythologically linked to the Padma Sarovaram adjacent to the temple.
On the concluding day, the richly decorated idol of the Goddess was transported in a ceremonial procession to the temple tank. There, it was carefully placed onto a specially prepared float.
The majestic float then embarked on its journey, making seven circuits around the sacred Padma Sarovaram. This ritual was performed amidst the continuous chanting of Vedic hymns and the overwhelming devotion of the gathered pilgrims.
Traditionally, the float completes three rounds on the first two days, five on the third, and culminates with seven rounds on the final day. The festivities concluded with the deity gracing devotees with an appearance on the Garuda Vahanam, circling the temple premises.
