Tiree Festival Triples Island Population
13 Jul
Summary
- Over 2,000 music fans attended the 15th Tiree festival.
- The event significantly boosted the island's economy by an estimated £1.6m.
- Festivalgoers quadrupled the usual population of Tiree for the weekend.

The 15th edition of the Tiree Music Festival recently brought thousands of music fans to the Hebrides. Sunny skies welcomed over 2,000 revellers, who enjoyed headline performances from popular Scottish acts including Peat and Diesel, Skippinish, Tide Lines, and Skerryvore. Organisers noted that attendees effectively tripled the island's population for the duration of the weekend's festivities.
In addition to the main musical acts, the festival offered a range of other activities. Attendees participated in surfing, swimming, and beach yoga, contributing to a lively atmosphere. The economic impact of the festival was substantial, with a report earlier this year estimating its value to the island's economy at approximately £1.6m for 2025.
This economic contribution is part of a larger trend, as an assessment by MKA Economics showed a total economic contribution of £11m since 2010. The festival's founder, Daniel Gillespie, expressed joy at celebrating the 15th anniversary, highlighting the positive impact on the island and the community spirit fostered by a shared love of Scottish culture.
