Summary
- Timothy Olyphant denies being cast in 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth'
- David Fincher to direct the 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' sequel for Netflix
- Quentin Tarantino wrote the script but is 'unenthused' about directing

As of September 26th, 2025, actor Timothy Olyphant has firmly denied being cast in the upcoming 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth' film, a sequel to Quentin Tarantino's 2019 drama 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.' Olyphant, who is currently working on a project called 'Five-Star Weekend' with Jennifer Garner, stated that the rumors of his involvement in the Fincher-directed Netflix movie are false.
The 'Adventures of Cliff Booth' will follow the character of Brad Pitt's stuntman, Cliff Booth, and also star Elizabeth Debicki, Carla Gugino, Scott Caan, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. While Tarantino wrote the script, he has decided not to direct the film, citing a lack of enthusiasm for revisiting the same ground he has already covered. Instead, acclaimed director David Fincher has stepped in to helm the project, which Pitt has described as a new 'episode' in the 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' story, rather than a direct sequel.
Tarantino has expressed his admiration for Fincher, stating that he and the 'Se7en' director are the two best filmmakers working today. The 'Adventures of Cliff Booth' will also mark a reunion between Pitt and Fincher, who have previously collaborated on films like 'Se7en,' 'Fight Club,' and 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.'
