- Only two pairs of these artistically crafted Timberland boots were made for the event.

Timberland debuted custom boots at the 2026 Met Gala, designed in partnership with Public School. These bespoke creations were engineered in-house at Public School's "The Shed" maker space, aligning with the event's "Fashion Is Art" theme. The boots are fashioned from premium vegetable-tanned leather, inspired by Timberland's iconic 6-Inch Boot, but with a refined silhouette. Key design elements include a narrower quarter panel, an enlarged toe box, and a distinctive toe guard made from custom-formed, nickel-plated copper.
The artistry extends to hand-painted details, a Vibram Montagna outsole, and hand-dyed midsoles. Public School's logos are featured on the tongue and hang tag, alongside Timberland's tree logo. These unique boots, fully leather-lined, were produced in an exclusive run of only two pairs. Public School's Maxwell Osbourne and Dao-Yi Chow stated the boots were essential to "ground" their "First Machines"-inspired looks, aiming for abstract, robot-like shapes.
The 2026 Met Gala, themed "Costume Art," took place on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This annual benefit raises funds for the Met's Costume Institute. Timberland has a history of high-profile collaborations, having previously partnered with brands like Louis Vuitton, Jacquemus, and Telfar.
