Director Tim Burton is attached to helm a new version of the 1958 science fiction horror film, "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman." Warner Bros. Pictures has enlisted Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan, the creative minds behind the successful "KPop Demon Hunters," to write the screenplay for this ambitious remake. Burton will produce the film alongside Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper, with Margot Robbie's LuckyChap also on board to produce and develop.
The original "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" became a cult classic, famously produced on a modest $88,000 budget and earning $480,000 at the U.S. box office. The story centered on a wealthy heiress who transforms into a giant after an alien encounter, seeking revenge on her unfaithful husband.
Jimenez and McMechan shared their enthusiasm for the project, stating their fascination with the premise of a fifty-foot woman enacting vengeance after being wronged. Their previous work includes developing projects for DreamWorks Animation and a biopic for Cheech & Chong, as well as contributing to television shows like "Brothers" and the "Ren & Stimpy" reboot.
