Tim Allen's Prison Past: From Jail to Hollywood Stardom

Tim Allen, known for his roles in 'Home Improvement' and 'Toy Story,' revealed how his prison experience shaped his career and personal life. The comedian was arrested at age 25 for trafficking over 650 grams of cocaine, a crime that carried a potential life sentence under Michigan's '650-lifer law.'

To avoid a life imprisonment, Allen pleaded guilty and provided names of other dealers, resulting in a sentence of three to seven years. He ultimately served two years and four months, being released in 1981. This period was a turning point, leading him to read about successful individuals and refocus his goals.

Allen also discussed his struggles with alcohol abuse, including a DUI arrest in 1998 that led him to rehab. He has been sober for nearly 30 years as of 2026. This sobriety has significantly improved his relationships, particularly with his eldest daughter, Katherine, whom he acknowledges he was not fully present for during her formative years.
