TIFFCOM Boosts IP Market in Tokyo

The Tokyo IP Market (TIFFCOM) will enhance its 2026 offerings with an expanded focus on Adaptation & Remake, scheduled for October 28-30 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Hamamatsucho-kan. The upcoming event will feature new conference sessions delving into artificial intelligence and anime.

TIFFCOM, affiliated with the Tokyo International Film Festival, is a joint effort by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, along with Unijapan. The market will convene alongside the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival, taking place from October 26 to November 4.

This expansion is motivated by the growing global demand for Japanese content, as observed during the first Japan IP Market held in May. The Tokyo IP Market focuses on rights for manga and novel adaptations, as well as remake rights for film and television.

The conference program for the 2026 event will comprise approximately 20 sessions covering topics such as the overseas growth of Japanese IP, an anime industry report, and the role of AI in international business, with a specific emphasis on Asian markets. The Tokyo Gap-Financing Market, TIFFCOM's project market for feature films, will also hold its seventh edition, selecting around 20 projects.

Shiina Yasushi, executive adviser of Unijapan and CEO of TIFFCOM, highlighted the clear evidence of increasing global demand for Japanese content. Ikeda Kaori, managing director of TIFFCOM and Unijapan, expressed commitment to making TIFFCOM a valuable three-day experience for trade, insights, and networking. Motion graphic designer Kawakami Takashi will design the key visual for the 2026 event.
