Vismaya's Debut Film Faces Box Office Slowdown

Vismaya Mohanlal's acting debut, Thudakkam, released on August 7, has garnered a worldwide gross collection of 41.11 crore, with 25.11 crore from domestic earnings and 16 crore from overseas. The film, produced with a 20-crore budget, has successfully entered the safe zone. However, its box office performance is experiencing a slowdown following its initial week, with collections dropping below 50 lakh in its second week.

This downturn is exacerbated by the arrival of new major Onam releases. Starting August 22, Prithviraj Sukumaran's Khalifa will compete for screens, followed by Nivin Pauly's Bethlehem Kudumba Unit on August 23. These highly anticipated films are expected to restrict Thudakkam's future collections, likely causing its domestic run to conclude below 25 crore, potentially ranking it as the 7th highest-grossing film of 2026 before being surpassed.
