He stated, "After so many tough times, I feel truly blessed to have found someone very special who takes such good care of me." Canedo described Markle as a "gentleman" and shared her initial surprise given his reputation.
Despite their years-long estrangement, which dates back to Meghan's 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex reportedly reached out to her father the same day she learned of his amputation. While initial reports suggested he hadn't heard from her, a spokesperson confirmed a letter from Meghan had safely reached him.
