Thamma Survives CBFC Cuts with Minimal Changes Ahead of Diwali Release
18 Oct
Summary
- CBFC reduces kissing scene in Thamma by 5 seconds
- Replaces 'Azaadi doonga' with 'Aiyaashi karata hoon'
- Censor certificate issued on October 15, 2025

As the much-awaited Diwali release Thamma approaches, the film has successfully navigated the censor process with minimal changes. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked the makers, Maddock Films, to make a few audio and visual modifications to the horror comedy.
The CBFC has reduced a kissing scene in the second half of the film by 30%, or 5 seconds. Additionally, the words "Azaadi doonga" were replaced with "Aiyaashi karata hoon" in another dialogue. The board also asked the makers to reduce the "slurping sound of drinking blood to minimum." Other changes include replacing the word "Alexander" with "Sikandar" and muting the word "Ashwathama."
Despite these edits, the censor certificate was issued on October 15, 2025, and the film received a U/A 16+ rating. Thamma is 2 hours 29 minutes and 59 seconds long, as mentioned on the certificate.
Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal, Thamma is set to release on October 21, 2025. The film is part of Maddock Films' horror comedy universe, which includes successful titles like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya.
