Thai production house 13 Studio is set to captivate audiences with two new horror offerings. "Dawn of Soengsang," a period action-horror film directed by Taweewat Wantha, is slated for a late 2026 release. The movie plunges viewers into 1978 Thailand, where soldiers on a mission in Soengsang Forest confront spectral entities and the formidable Saming Tiger, a creature from local folklore.
Wantha, who also penned the screenplay, described the film's themes, stating, "I use spirits and folklore as metaphors for the darkness created by humanity itself." The Saming Tiger's depiction involves a blend of practical effects and digital artistry, with contributions from studios that have worked on major Hollywood productions.
In parallel, "Kijsada Paradise" is scheduled for a June 11 theatrical debut. This film, directed by Phontharis Chotkijsadarsopon, draws inspiration from the eerie legend of an abandoned water park in Chiang Mai. The narrative follows students daring to explore the derelict facility, only to be hunted by a vengeful spirit.
"Kijsada Paradise" boasts a production budget of $1.4 million and was filmed at the actual haunted location. Its cast includes prominent young actors, and it has already garnered significant social media attention. The film previously screened at prominent film markets, building anticipation for its release.
