Atlanta Duo's Mixtape: Lost in Features?

Atlanta rappers Tezzus and diamond*, now signed to Young Thug's YSL imprint, have released their debut mixtape, UY SCUTI BØYZ. Named in honor of their label boss's upcoming 2025 release, the project features an eclectic array of beats and high-energy collaborations. However, its 18 tracks are noted for potentially overshadowing the artists' inherent chemistry.

The mixtape showcases a dynamic range of production from various artists, reflecting the duo's energetic performances. Standout tracks highlight their distinct styles, with Tezzus delivering gruff bravado and diamond* offering a more melodic approach. Their natural chemistry is evident on tracks like "Duality," where they contrast their styles, and "Ice Øn," which explores a sensual theme.

Despite the strong chemistry, UY SCUTI BØYZ is criticized for its heavy reliance on guest features, with Tezzus and diamond* only sharing five tracks together. This structure leads to the mixtape feeling like a compilation, diluting the focus on the core artists. While the features add to the project's world-building and excel as posse cuts, they leave a question mark regarding Tezzus and diamond*'s individual offerings.
