Terrifier Actress Sues Producers Over Unpaid Profits
27 Oct
Summary
- Actress Catherine Corcoran files lawsuit over 1% profit deal
- Terrifier franchise earns $100M globally on $2.5M budget
- Corcoran alleges producers "brushed off" her payment requests

In a surprising turn of events, Catherine Corcoran, the actress who starred in one of the most memorable scenes from the Terrifier horror franchise, has filed a lawsuit against the film's producers. According to the complaint filed in a California federal court on Sunday, Corcoran alleges that she has not received her agreed-upon 1% share of the franchise's substantial profits.
The Terrifier series, which follows the exploits of the demonic serial killer Art the Clown, has become an unlikely hit, grossing around $100 million globally on a combined budget of less than $2.5 million. Corcoran, who played one of Art's first on-screen victims, was reportedly paid the then-SAG minimum daily rate of $100 for her role. However, she claims she later reached a deal to receive 1% of the profits from the films, including box office, streaming, live events, and merchandise.
Despite the franchise's massive success, Corcoran says she has only been paid around $17,000 in royalties so far. When she confronted the director, Damien Leone, and producer, Phil Falcone, about the missing payments, she alleges she was "brushed off" and told that the production "doesn't keep records."
The lawsuit brings several claims for breach of contract, as well as allegations of violations related to the distribution of sexually explicit material. Corcoran claims she was not properly informed about the level of nudity required for her scene, which involved her being hung upside down and bisected by Art the Clown.
As the Terrifier franchise continues to gain mainstream popularity, this legal battle promises to be a closely watched case in the world of independent horror filmmaking.
