Nigerian artist Tems recently graced The Tonight Show with a memorable live performance of her popular song "What You Need." The performance featured a live band and backup singers, presenting an evocative interpretation of the emotional ballad.
"What You Need," released last fall, is the lead single from her EP Love Is a Kingdom. The song, co-written and produced with GuiltyBeatz, conveys a message of self-reliance in relationships. Tems expressed, "I'm better on my own, you're better when you're gone."
This performance follows Tems' 2024 album, Born in the Wild, which came six years after her 2018 debut single, "Mr. Rebel." Her notable hits include "Damages" and "Free Mind," alongside successful features on Wizkid's "Essence" and Future and Drake's "Wait for U."
Tems is slated to perform at All Points East in London this August. Currently, her only other announced tour dates are two performances in Bristol, England, also scheduled for August.
