The Temper Trap has announced their highly anticipated fourth album, 'Sungazer,' which is scheduled for release on July 10. This marks the band's first new music in ten years, following their 2018 album 'Thick as Thieves.'
The band members pursued individual projects during their hiatus, with lead singer Dougy Mandagi living in Berlin and Indonesia, drummer Toby Dundas composing film scores, bassist Jonathon Aherne releasing solo work, and guitarist Joseph Greer focusing on teaching. They tentatively returned to the studio, collaborating remotely and reuniting in Melbourne for recording sessions.
'Sungazer' is described by the band as their purest collection of music, made with greater enjoyment and stronger friendships than ever before. The album announcement coincides with the band's support slot for Muse's North American tour this summer and an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform their single 'Giving Up Air.' The title track, 'Sungazer,' is a personal declaration from Mandagi to his unborn son, Ziggy.
