Summary
- Court suspended parking fee collection at single-screen cinemas.
- Order issued on March 6 after a moviegoer filed a petition.
- Temporary suspension of a 2021 government order.
- Further hearing scheduled for April 6.

In a significant victory for cinema patrons, the Telangana High Court has temporarily suspended the collection of parking fees at single-screen theaters throughout the state. This interim order was issued on March 6 by Justice NV Shravan Kumar.
The court's decision came after hearing a petition filed by Ramavath Prem Kumar, who argued that charging for parking at cinemas was illegal. His legal counsel contended that a government order from 2021, which allowed these fees, violated the Telangana Municipalities Act of 2019. This act mandates that commercial establishments provide adequate parking as a prerequisite for building permits.
Justice Shravan Kumar's order effectively suspends the 2021 GO, halting any parking fee collection from moviegoers at single-screen cinemas. The state government has been directed to ensure this decision is communicated to all affected theaters. The case is scheduled for further hearing on April 6.
