Teddi Mellencamp, known for her time on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," has shared details of a rare and life-threatening medical emergency she experienced. The 44-year-old TV personality revealed that she developed a severe, painful rash covering her entire body, which rapidly progressed into widespread sores and blisters. This condition, identified as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, was a severe allergic reaction to a newly prescribed medication. The illness affected her skin, mouth, and eyes, leading to significant difficulty swallowing. She was immediately hospitalized and began treatment with steroids and antibiotics. Doctors kept her admitted due to the potential for the condition to worsen again. Mellencamp was released from the hospital in time to celebrate her daughter Dove's birthday. This health scare occurred while Mellencamp is also managing a diagnosis of stage 4 melanoma, which had metastasized to her brain and lungs by February 2025. Her ongoing divorce proceedings with ex Edwin Arroyave have been put on hold as she prioritizes her health.
