This installment sees Ted coaching a second-division football team after departing AFC Richmond and returning to Kansas City to be with his son. Jason Sudeikis, the show's star and executive producer, emphasized that the decision for Ted to stay close to his son was a narrative choice, making his move with the team illogical.

Regarding future seasons, Apple TV has not officially confirmed a Season 5 for Ted Lasso. However, Apple's programming chief, Matt Cherniss, indicated that Sudeikis is actively working on the upcoming season and looking to move into the next one soon. Cherniss also highlighted Apple TV's strong comedy brand, positioning shows like Ted Lasso and The Studios as key elements of a successful year for the streamer.

If greenlit, Season 5 could feature the return of its core cast, including Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Juno Temple. Sudeikis has expressed his intention for Seasons 4 through 6 to form a cohesive three-season arc, indicating a deliberate narrative conclusion in mind for the beloved series.
