Swift's Sixth VMA Win, Honors Dolly Parton

Taylor Swift secured her sixth Video of the Year award at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 27. The winning music video was "The Fate of Ophelia."

Swift, 36, dedicated her win to the iconic Dolly Parton, who passed away in August at the age of 80. Swift lauded Parton's vivid storytelling and the grace with which she navigated her career, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to share the planet with her.

Other nominees for Video of the Year included Ariana Grande for "Hate That I Made You Love Me," Sabrina Carpenter for "Tears," Madonna for "Confessions II - The Film," and Bruno Mars and Gener8ion for "I Just Might" and "Storm" featuring Yung Lean, respectively.

Last year, Ariana Grande won Video of the Year for "Brighter Days Ahead." Her acceptance speech emphasized art as a safe space and the healing process. Grande's 2025 win interrupted a three-year streak by Swift, who had previously won for "All Too Well: The Short Film" (2022), "Anti-Hero" (2023), and "Fortnight" (2024).
