Taylor Swift Releases Acoustic Version of "The Fate of Ophelia"

On October 31, 2025, Taylor Swift surprised fans by unveiling an acoustic rendition of "The Fate of Ophelia," the opening track from her recently released album The Life of a Showgirl. The pop star has also made the acoustic version available as a limited edition single CD, which includes an instrumental acoustic take of the song.
The CD will be on sale until 4 p.m. ET on the same day. Swift's latest album, her 12th studio effort, arrived earlier this month without any pre-release singles. However, the singer did drop a music video for "The Fate of Ophelia" following the album's debut.
The visual, which Swift directed and wrote, opens with the singer portraying the tragic Shakespearean heroine Ophelia in a painting on a hotel wall. This appears to have been inspired by Friedrich Heyser's 1900 painting of the same name, which is housed at the Museum Wiesbaden in Germany. Since the video's release, the museum has experienced a surge of visitors eager to see the artwork.
"We are having an absolute Ophelia run at the moment and are quite surprised and happy about it," a museum spokesperson told The Guardian a few weeks ago. "It's been a shock, to be honest."
