Custody Battle Erupts Amid Domestic Violence Claims
7 Apr
Summary
- Guardian concerned about reality star's control during anger.
- Court granted supervised visitation for at least six hours weekly.
- Protective hearing scheduled for April 30 to reevaluate restrictions.

Reality TV personality Taylor Frankie Paul and ex-partner Dakota Mortensen are embroiled in a custody dispute over their 2-year-old son, Ever. During a recent court appearance on Tuesday, April 7, a guardian expressed concerns regarding Paul's alleged inability to manage anger, particularly during past altercations with Mortensen. These concerns were amplified by Paul's previous guilty plea for aggravated assault following a domestic violence incident in February 2023 and mandatory parenting classes.
Mortensen's legal team further argued that Paul poses a risk, pointing to an alleged incident where she kicked down a door while a child slept nearby and noting Mortensen's role as the primary caregiver during Paul's four-month absence. Paul's defense countered that Mortensen provokes her and has used Ever as a "human shield." The judge acknowledged the volatility of the relationship.
Following a judge's previous grant of temporary custody to Mortensen, Paul has been granted supervised visits with Ever for a minimum of six hours per week. This arrangement will be reassessed at a protective hearing scheduled for April 30. The judge mandated that these supervised visits be facilitated by a neutral third party, with further agreement on the facilitator required from both parents.
