David Duchovny Got Tarantino's 'Best Rejection Ever'

Quentin Tarantino, known for his directorial vision, has a notable history of rejecting actors, even those eager to collaborate. This includes David Duchovny, who received what he described as the "best rejection ever" from Tarantino for his debut film, "Reservoir Dogs." Duchovny recounted in 2023 that Tarantino told him, "I like what you do, I just don't know if I want you to do it in my movie."

"Reservoir Dogs," released in 1992, saw numerous actors audition, with many not making the final cut. Notably, George Clooney reportedly "botched" his audition for the film. Other actors like Robert Forster, James Woods, and Vincent Gallo also tried out for early roles.

More recently, Macaulay Culkin revealed that he auditioned for Tarantino's Oscar-winning film "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" but did not get the part. Despite these casting rejections, Tarantino's films have achieved significant critical and commercial success, and he has also faced rejections from stars such as Will Smith. Duchovny went on to achieve fame as Special Agent Mulder in "The X-Files."
