The incident, which occurred in November 2025 at a hotel near Chicago's O'Hare airport, involved Reid claiming she was drugged after consuming just one drink.

While police did not find evidence to support criminal charges, they also did not declare Reid's claims false. The investigation concluded in December 2025 due to a lack of sufficient evidence. Reid had previously stated she remembered nothing after her first drink and woke up in a hospital gown.

Reid has spoken about feeling "judged and bullied" by the public and media following the incident. She expressed that the scrutiny has significantly impacted her mental health, making healing difficult and causing her to fear leaving her home. She emphasized that her experience of waking up in a hospital with no memory was not due to drinking wine alone.

The actress was photographed looking cheerful while dining outdoors in Los Angeles with a friend. Footage from the night of the incident showed Reid appearing incoherent and being taken away by paramedics on a stretcher. Surveillance footage from the hotel reportedly did not show anyone tampering with her drink.
