Tanishaa Mukerji's Comeback in Period Parsi Film

Tanishaa Mukerji is set to grace the big screen once again in "Zindagi Phir Bhi Khoobsurat Hai," the directorial debut of Kapil Kaustubh Sharma. This slice-of-life film is inspired by a song from the 1978 movie 'Khatta Meetha' and features a Parsi backdrop. Sharma aims for a realistic yet emotional and comedic tone, reminiscent of directors like Basu Chatterjee and Sai Paranjpye, offering a contrast to contemporary violent cinema.

Kapil Kaustubh Sharma has taken on multiple roles for this project, serving as writer, director, and actor. He draws inspiration for the film's title and theme from the Parsi community, seeking authenticity with help from Parsi friends. The narrative spans several decades, from the 1990s to 2025, requiring actors who can portray different age groups. Sharma himself is undergoing a physical transformation, gaining weight to play an older character and planning to lose it for younger scenes.

Filming for the older portions of "Zindagi Phir Bhi Khoobsurat Hai" is nearly complete, with shooting taking place in authentic Parsi homes in South Mumbai and Dadar Parsi Colony. The film is slated for release next year, with plans for an international film festival debut followed by a theatrical release. The ensemble cast includes notable actors such as Sushmita Mukherjee and Kitu Gidwani, adding to the film's anticipated appeal.
