The 56th International Film Festival of India, set to take place from November 20-28 in Goa, has unveiled an impressive lineup for this year's event. The festival has selected the Tamil-language war drama "Amaran," starring Sivakarthikeyan, as the opening feature film.
The diverse selection includes 25 feature films, 20 non-feature films, and 5 streaming series competing for the Best Web-Series Award. The feature film jury, chaired by actor-filmmaker-producer Raja Bundela and comprising 12 members, chose the films from over 500 contemporary Indian feature film entries, representing multiple Indian languages and regional cinema traditions.
The lineup features a wide range of titles, including Malayalam-language "Sarkeet," Braj-language "Vimukt," Hindi-language "The Bengal Files," and Kannada-language "Vanya," among others. The mainstream cinema section also includes films in Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam, Assamese, and Telugu.
The jury has also nominated five films for the Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film Award, including titles in Nepali, Bengali, Hindi, Malayalam, and Telugu.
