Tamil Star Ajith Kumar Shares Candid Insights into Parenting and Passion

In a rare candid interview, Tamil cinema's beloved star Ajith Kumar opened up about the rhythms of family life and the balancing act of parenting. Away from the speed and spotlight of the 24H endurance race in Barcelona, Ajith spoke to India Today's Akshita Nandagopal about the quiet joys that ground him.

Ajith acknowledged the sacrifices his wife Shalini has made to support his passions, from films to motorsports. When Ajith got back to racing in 2002, shortly after their marriage, Shalini was by his side at every event. Even as their responsibilities grew with the arrival of their two children, Shalini continued to follow Ajith's racing pursuits.

Now, with his daughter in college and his son navigating a new school, Ajith expressed his gratitude for Shalini's unwavering support. "If not for her, I wouldn't be able to do all this," he admitted. Ajith also spoke about missing his children when he is away for work, acknowledging that the sacrifices are not just on his side.

Looking ahead, Ajith revealed that he wants his children to choose their own paths, without forcing his views on them. "Be it films or racing, I would not want to force my views on them. I want them to come on their own and support them in every way possible," he said.
