The amended rules, approved by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay following industry consultations, now allow for five shows without requiring separate permission during the first seven days of a new Tamil film's release, as well as on local festival days, public holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
This regulatory update aims to streamline operations for theatre owners, eliminating the bureaucratic hurdles previously associated with screening additional shows during peak periods.
