Worldwide rights for the Taiwanese action crime thriller "Dead End" have been secured by EST N8, launching the film to global buyers at the Cannes Film Market. Directed by Chan Chun-hao, the movie centers on Lin Sheng-yi, a former baseball star whose career ended due to a scandal.
Returning to his hometown, Sheng-yi discovers a disturbing local practice: people are wagering money on the precise hour of his terminally ill father's death. With sunrise as his deadline, he must dismantle the syndicate responsible while confronting his own past.
The film's narrative is inspired by documented underground death-betting circles in Taiwan, adding a layer of chilling realism. "Dead End" stars Daniel Hong, Ng Ki-pin, and Yao Yi-ti.
Chan Chun-hao, a director with multiple accolades, described the film as an exploration of second chances when time is critically short. The feature is produced by Taipei-based inJECT Films.
EST N8's Cannes lineup also includes "Master," "Danur: The Last Chapter," "Janur Ireng," "Dear Stranger," "The Invisible Half," and "I Live Here Now."
