In a significant move for Taiwan's content creation landscape, Taiwanese IP development company Mirror Fiction Inc. has launched a new $10M (NTD310M) film and TV production company called Mirror Entertainment. The new venture is a co-investment with the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), which is sourcing the funding from Taiwan's National Development Fund.
Over the next five years, Mirror Entertainment plans to develop and produce a slate of 10 film and TV projects, several of which will be created in collaboration with international partners. The company's initial lineup includes a diverse range of stories, from a true crime drama about a female serial killer in Taiwan to a Switzerland-set comedy about the impact of internet usage on children, as well as a thriller about a diamond theft linked to an international conspiracy.
Leading the new company is chairperson Tung Cheng-yu, who is also the CEO of Mirror Fiction. Tung is an established figure in Taiwan's IP development field, with experience across journalism, publishing, and film production. The management team also includes seasoned professionals in content development, production, and international business.
In addition to the TAICCA investment, Mirror Entertainment has brought on board Ruen Tai Shing Co and Field Stone Investment Holding as co-investors. The company's plans to adapt its own successful properties, such as the hit internet novel "The Cleaning Guide For Murderers," further underscore its ambitions to become a major player in Taiwan's rapidly evolving content creation landscape.
