The Taiwanese prison drama "Sunshine Women's Choir" has made history as the highest-grossing local film in Taiwan, earning over NT$545 million by February 14, 2026. This success dethroned the previous record holder from 2008. The film tells the story of a baby born in a women's prison, whose inmates form a choir to create a special memory for her.
Directed by Gavin Lin, the Mandarin-language feature premiered on December 31, 2025. It quickly rose to the top of Taiwan's daily box office and maintained strong performance. The film has seen releases in Singapore and Malaysia, with previews in Hong Kong starting January 17, 2026, and a full theatrical release on March 5, 2026.
