Taapsee Pannu: Bollywood Bias Against Love Stories?

Taapsee Pannu, alongside Kanika Dhillon and Guneet Monga Kapoor, recently discussed women's impact on Indian cinema. Pannu shared her unique challenge: Bollywood's tendency to take her too seriously, thus hesitating to greenlight love stories or comedies with her, preferring thrillers. She noted a significant budget disparity, with Rs. 25 crores invested in thrillers compared to the reluctance for Rs. 15 crores for a love story.

Pannu observed that her non-fragile image might be a contributing factor, leading to a perception that she cannot lead a romantic film. She also revealed that the consistent portrayal of strong female characters has inadvertently led to her being stereotyped, with the label feeling like an insult. This has made it challenging for her to convey that her personal life could also encompass a love story.
