Taapsee Pannu: Bollywood's Action Film Dilemma

Taapsee Pannu has voiced concerns regarding the budgetary challenges and double standards in Bollywood concerning women-led action cinema. Reflecting on her experiences, Pannu noted that action films are inherently expensive, yet investment in female-driven projects is significantly lower due to perceived audience disinterest.

She pointed out a stark contrast in how male-led and female-led action films are received. While male action movies can thrive with predictable plots and flashy elements, female action films are scrutinized more heavily, requiring perfection in every aspect from story to performance.

This pressure is compounded by limited budgets, forcing filmmakers to deliver exceptional results with fewer resources. Pannu shared her gratitude for the increased financial support for her upcoming Netflix film, 'Gandhari,' acknowledging that such backing is less common for female-led action movies.
