Taal Sequel Script Nearly Done, Ghai Hints at 2026 Release

Subhash Ghai, the visionary behind the 1999 musical romantic drama 'Taal', has revealed that the script for a potential sequel is almost finished. Ghai, who directed, produced, and wrote the original film, shared this update, acknowledging the persistent demand from fans for over a decade. He indicated that the team is now evaluating the ideal time to proceed with 'Taal 2'.

The filmmaker emphasized that while the subject of 'Taal' might seem straightforward, its execution is quite challenging. Ghai believes the original film's success stemmed from its powerful energy and the casting of then-newcomers like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshaye Khanna, whose freshness contributed to the movie's emotional resonance. He plans to bring this same purity to the sequel.

Reflecting on his past projects, Ghai noted that poor casting was the sole reason for films that did not perform well. He praised the recent film 'Saiyaara' for its effective use of new faces, appreciating their innocence and energy. For 'Taal 2', Ghai stated that while actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have become stars, the characters in the sequel must appear new to fulfill the script's requirements.
