Tèa Leoni is set to return to broadcast television and multi-camera comedy with a leading role in NBC's pilot, 'Newlyweds'. The project received its official green light once Leoni, who had multiple pilot offers, was secured for the part. This series is described as a later-in-life love story focusing on an impetuous marriage between a free-spirited woman, Jeanie, and a conservative professor, following a whirlwind courtship.
'Newlyweds' is written by Gail Lerner, who also executive produces alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, among others. Universal Television is producing the series. This marks a significant return to the multi-camera format for Leoni, whose last project in this genre was 'The Naked Truth,' which aired for three seasons on ABC and NBC. Leoni is also known for her six-season run on the CBS drama 'Madam Secretary' and a recent guest arc on Hulu's 'Only Murders In the Building'.
