The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) is set to honor music executive Sylvia Rhone at an exclusive "Celebration of an Icon" tribute on June 25 in Los Angeles. Hosted during BET Awards Week, the event will feature notable artists like Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes. Rhone, formerly chairwoman and CEO of Epic Records, will also receive the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2026 BET Awards on June 28.
In conjunction with Black Music Month and Juneteenth, BMAC is also presenting its "America250 Celebration: From 1619 to America250." This event, scheduled for June 18 in New York City, will include a fireside chat titled "Redefining Patriotism" with author Nikole Hannah-Jones and BMAC co-founder Willie "Prophet" Stiggers.
The "America250" initiative also includes the BMAC x America250 Voices of Tomorrow program, a youth talent search. Grammy-winning producer Adam Blackstone will lead a reinterpretation of the song "Optimistic," originally by Sounds of Blackness, featuring grant recipients and other artists for an early July release.
The sixth annual BMAC Gala is scheduled for September 24 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. BMAC leadership emphasized the importance of unity and advocacy within the music community during this critical time.
