In the lead-up to the October 25th premiere of her new movie "Christy", actress Sydney Sweeney, 28, has undergone a remarkable transformation for the role. Sweeney plays boxing champion Christy Martin in the upcoming biopic, and to prepare for the part, she gained 30 pounds of muscle, learned boxing, and even did her own stunts for the film's fight scenes.
Sweeney's physical transformation was a key part of her preparation for the role. "I was blown away that her story wasn't more known on a universal, global level because it's just one of the most harrowing and inspiring women that I've ever met in my entire life," Sweeney told Vanity Fair in September. To embody the boxer, Sweeney spent three months training, weight-lifting, and kickboxing, completely changing her body composition.
In addition to her physical transformation, Sweeney also debuted a new lighter blonde bob hairstyle for the film's premiere last month. Her longtime hairstylist Glen Coco explained that the fresh look was meant to "morph her into this updated version of herself in real life" to complement the character of Christy Martin.
Sweeney's dedication to authentically portraying the boxing legend is evident in the final product. By immersing herself in the role through intense physical training and a dramatic makeover, the actress has delivered a powerful and compelling performance that is sure to captivate audiences.
