David Bruckner is attached to write and direct 'The Caretaker,' Universal's forthcoming adaptation of Marcus Kliewer's novel. Sydney Sweeney is set to star in the film.
Producing the project are Michael Bay and Brad Fuller, alongside Scott Glassgold and Sweeney herself. The story centers on a troubled young woman who accepts a caretaking position at a remote coastal dwelling. She soon discovers that a series of increasingly unsettling rules must be followed to contain a powerful, reality-bending entity.
Universal acquired the rights to 'The Caretaker' in a bidding war back in October 2022. Kliewer's novel was released on April 21 and follows his successful debut, 'We Used To Live Here.' Bruckner is known for his work on 'Hellraiser' and 'The Night House.'
