Sydney Sweeney Rejects 'Sex Symbol' Label, Embraces Confidence

In a recent interview, actress Sydney Sweeney, 28, has opened up about the acting roles she accepts and being cast as one of Hollywood's leading bombshells. Sweeney says she plays a lot of "very divisive characters" and doesn't want to be pigeonholed as a "sex symbol."

"I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think that a lot of people think they know me, but they don't," Sweeney explained. "So when people think, 'Ah, she's a sex symbol,' or 'She's leaning into that,' I'm like, 'No, I just feel good and I'm doing it for myself and I feel strong.'"

Sweeney's comments seem to reference the controversy surrounding her American Eagle ad from last July, where she boasted about her "great genes." The ad sparked conversations about beauty standards and eugenics, but Sweeney remains focused on her work and self-confidence.

"I hope that I can inspire other women to be confident and just flaunt what they got and feel good because you shouldn't have to apologize or hide or cover up in any room," Sweeney said.

Despite the backlash, the actress is determined to continue embracing her curves and not letting others define her. She's grateful that her Euphoria character has helped her love her body even more, and she's proud to work with intimacy coordinators to ensure her comfort during intimate scenes.
