Susanna Hoffs Embraces Honesty on First Original Album in 14 Years

Susanna Hoffs, known for her work with The Bangles, has released "The List," her fifth studio album and her first collection of entirely new, original music in over 14 years. The album's creation involved extensive conversations with producer CJ Camerieri, as Hoffs drew upon decades of life experiences, including themes of love, loss, and self-discovery.

This new music emerged after Hoffs published her debut novel, "This Bird Has Flown," which significantly influenced her storytelling and willingness to explore vulnerability. Hoffs collaborated with a diverse group of musicians, including Rufus Wainwright and Dan Wilson, finding the shared creative process to be deeply rewarding.

"The List" captures Hoffs' honest reflection on life, including the feelings associated with an empty nest and the universal experience of loneliness. She emphasizes that "sex, love and rock 'n' roll" remain potent subjects for artistic expression. The album was recorded at Hoffs' home and aims to connect with listeners on a deeply human level, with every note and syllable considered important.

The album "The List" was released on September 18. Hoffs expressed her passion for singing and the profound impact music has in helping individuals navigate life's challenges, likening it to a gift that can offer solace during difficult times.
