Survivor Doubles Prize to $2 Million!
21 May
Summary
- Survivor's winner prize doubled to $2 million for two seasons.
- Contestants receive money based on performance, not just the winner.
- The Sia Prize for Fan Favorite has concluded after eight years.

Survivor's 50th season, "In the Hands of the Fans," featured a historic $2 million prize, a significant increase from the show's typical $1 million reward. This doubled jackpot was made possible when internet personality MrBeast surprised the contestants, offering them a chance to double the prize money through a coin flip.
Rick Devens successfully flipped the coin, securing the $2 million grand prize. This season also saw the return of the $100,000 Fan Favorite vote, known as the Sia Prize, which is once again "in the hands of the fans."
Beyond the winner, all contestants reportedly receive prize money based on their performance. Former contestant Corinne Kaplan confirmed that a set prize pot exists regardless of the number of players. The runner-up receives $100,000 and the third-place finisher gets $85,000.
The $1 million prize fund had remained consistent since Survivor's debut in 2000. However, the prize was increased to $2 million for the 40th season, "Winners at War," in 2020, and again for the 50th season in 2026.
While the winner pockets the majority, federal and state taxes must be paid, a lesson learned by season 1 winner Richard Hatch, who faced prison time for non-payment. Additionally, contestants could earn an extra $10,000 for participating in the live reunion show.
The "Sia Prize," initiated by singer Sia in 2016, concluded after eight years and 14 seasons, having awarded over $1 million to fan-favorite contestants. Sia has notably given $100,000 to several players, including Rick Devens and Carolyn Wiger.
