CBS has officially renewed the long-running reality competition series Survivor for its 51st season, announced in January 2026. Host Jeff Probst, who has been with the show since its inception in 2000, expressed significant enthusiasm for the series' continued success and its future.
Season 51 is slated for a premiere later this year, with CBS scheduling it for Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET. While the exact premiere date is yet to be revealed, filming for season 51 began on April 15 and is expected to conclude on July 3 in Fiji. Unlike season 50, this upcoming season will not feature returning players.
Probst has indicated that the show might reintroduce themed seasons, a format that was paused since season 41. He suggested that while seasons will continue to be numbered, the possibility of incorporating themes like 'David vs. Goliath' remains open for future installments. The show's core format, as Probst described, is "indestructible" and allows for "trillions of galaxies" of possibilities within its simple structure.
