Gilmore Girls Doc Filmmakers Uncover Surprising Sides of Cast

As of November 5th, 2025, the upcoming Gilmore Girls documentary, Drink Coffee, Talk Fast, has been fully funded on Kickstarter. Filmmakers Meghna Balakumar and Kevin Konrad Hanna have been sharing updates on the production process, which has included fascinating conversations with the show's talented cast.

The filmmakers were particularly impressed by their interviews with Chad Michael Murray, who played the antagonistic character of Tristan. Hanna admits he was "surprised that Chad Michael Murray was smart and nice," noting that "Chad is so smart and so insightful and so kind." Balakumar echoed this sentiment, joking that she "didn't know someone could be beautiful and smart at the same time."

The filmmakers also marveled at the incredible real-life stories shared by Sally Struthers, who portrayed the beloved character of Babette. Hanna described how Struthers would "just drop all this stuff, just like off-handed like, 'Oh yeah, when I was doing this thing and we were stranded on an island,' just incredible."
