Suriya's Serial Killer Thriller 'Scene' Delivers Laughs and Suspense

Suriya stars as Inbaraj, a reluctant and chain-smoking police officer, in Jithu Madhavan's latest directorial venture, "Scene." The film masterfully weaves a serial killer narrative with elements of dark humor and clever twists. Inbaraj, who has submitted his resignation multiple times, finds himself engrossed in a new case bearing striking similarities to one he previously solved.

The investigation takes a thrilling turn with the appearance of a ruthless young killer, Eeswaran, portrayed by Naslen. Nazriya Nazim joins Inbaraj, adding another layer to the chaotic and suspenseful plot. Madhavan’s direction ensures the film is as entertaining as his previous successes, "Romancham" and "Aavesham."

"Scene" begins with a deliberate pace, establishing Inbaraj's unique investigative methods and personal flaws. While the initial setup might feel slow, it lays the groundwork for significant payoffs later in the narrative. The film’s strength lies in its quirky characters, whose shortcomings become integral to the unfolding story.

Suriya offers a compelling performance, shedding his star persona to embody Inbaraj's vulnerabilities and comedic timing. Nazriya also shines, bringing depth to her character, Maya, who navigates her own trauma while assisting in the investigation. Naslen is remarkable as the casually cool yet menacing Eeswaran, stealing scenes with his portrayal.

Despite a slightly drawn-out first half, "Scene" excels with its inventive cat-and-mouse chase and a brilliant confrontation. Jithu Madhavan’s experimental approach to the investigative drama, allowing Suriya to surrender to the story, marks a significant moment for the star and his fans.
